Art History meets Gaming

Shohei Takasaki’s third solo exhibition seamlessly combines art history with nostalgic home comforts. In his paintings, Takasaki juxtaposes famous still-life masterpieces with scenes inspired by the role-playing games he grew up playing. Skulls reminiscent of Caravaggio’s iconic works emerge from video game-inspired backdrops. Through his thought-provoking artwork, Takasaki explores the fascinating intersection between the real and the virtual, questioning why violent video games, despite our desire to avoid violence in real life, remain so addictive.
