‘I have been to hell and back.
And let me tell you, it was wonderful’
In the largest solo exhibition of Louise Bourgeois’ work in Japan to date, Mori Art Museum presents around 100 works spanning the artist’s prolific career.
Exploring a theme of “family” which is present throughout Bourgeois’ work, the curation delves into the artist’s familial dynamics, weaving together her iconic spider sculptures with early paintings and poignant psychoanalytic writings through the lens of intimacy and emotion. Complemented by Jenny Holzer’s immersive video installation and rare archival materials, this is a revealing showcase of one of modern art’s most influential figures.
