A special day to celebrate the new year, Setsubun is an annual festival during which a ceremonial bean-throwing takes place to ward off any lingering evil spirits. Celebrations take place at Sensoji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple and the first to hold this event on a large scale during the Edo period.
In addition to the bean-throwing, there will also be performances of Fukuji-no-mai, the dance of the Seven Lucky Gods. Join in at the festivities this year and ready yourself for the year ahead.
