This month, Waza in Asakusa began offering a brand-new hands-on activity, in which tourists get to wear full-scale samurai armor in order to feel what it was like to be a real samurai.
Samurai armor is made up of various parts and weighs almost 20 kilograms. Just like back in the Sengoku period, when Japan’s provinces were locked in battle, visitors are fitted into the armor by a professional dresser. Photos of this rare experience are taken from various angles with over 20 photos, which can later be browsed through and downloaded via an app.
For the finale, visitors are paraded onto the streets of Asakusa, where they are sure to make an impression.
Until July 31, the experience is 20,000 yen, which is a 33% discount.
