A Jewish deli in Tokyo? We were surprised by the idea too, yet so glad to hear that it happened. Wise Sons got its start in San Francisco’s Mission District and has expanded to nearly 10 locations around California’s Bay Area; they launched their Tokyo location in Marunouchi at the end of February, and they’ve been sharing the unique pleasures of Jewish comfort food – bagels, pastrami sandwiches, and even matzo ball soup – ever since. Judging by how packed the place was when we dropped by for a visit, they’re definitely making converts with their authentic recipes and the Northern California vibe that they manage to serve along with all the tasty things to nosh on.
