Not only can you track the bearded man’s whereabouts on the planet, but you can also count down to his arrival, which is a mere matter of hours away now. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) is continuing its now 60-year-old tradition of tracking Santa before he climbs down the chimney to deliver presents. Did you know NORAD Santa was established in 1955 over a phone line? Although it’s a tad more high-tech nowadays with additional fun, the story remains the same.
Some added features on the website allows you to learn a bit more about his history: although his home country isn’t specified, you can learn that he spreads his Christmas cheer in exactly 24 hours, even though the distribution lists gets a bit longer each year. The site also has a corner to explore the North Pole, and a few fun games for young (and not so young) viewers.
Extra links point to different activity websites to keep yourself occupied this holiday, and there’s even a section tackling Christmas traditions around the world. We were surprised to find no mention of fried chicken or Christmas cake in the Japan entry…
