Founded in 1948, The New York City Ballet (NYCB) company is considered one of the most respected and renowned ballet troupes in the world. After a five-year hiatus from Japan, the NYCB returns to Tokyo for five days, accompanied by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. The dancers and musicians will be performing three different programs that all include various ballets from their repertoire, such as works by Balanchine, music by Tschaikovsky, a West Side Story suite, and music by Chopin, just to name a few. The NYCB usually enjoys a warm reception in Japan, and after such a long absence tickets are likely to go fast, so book early for the best seats.
