What would Christmas be without the Nutcracker, Clara and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy? Adapted from E. T. W. Hoffmann’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, Russian composer Tchaikovsky, along with choreographers, turned the story into one of the most famous ballets, The Nutcracker, in 1892. Since then, it has become an integral part of the Western tradition of Christmas. The K-Ballet Company helps bring this tradition to Japan by performing their own interpretation of the ballet. K-Ballet Company was started in 1998 by Tetsuya Kumakawa, formerly of the prestigious Royal Ballet Company in London. He was one of the first Asians to join the company and impressed the international community with his quick rise to the top. Lead by his expertise and talent, this rendition is sure to please audiences at the modern Akasaka Sacas Act Theater.
