The Australia Society Tokyo hosts its annual Australia Day black tie ball in the impressive Grand Ballroom of the ANA Intercontinental this year.
There’s especially good news for Australians in 2013 as Australia Day – a commemoration of the foundation of the nation in 1788 – falls on a Saturday, meaning you have no excuse not to push the boat out. Of course down in Australia the event is pretty summery but, as it’s getting cold in Tokyo, here a luxury dinner and ball seems the way forward.
A selection of fine Australian wines will complement the four-course dining experience on the night and there’ll be chance to celebrate in the company of the Australian community here in Tokyo – whether you’re one of them or not – and get a taste of home whilst listening to live music.
With the purchase of every ticket there is a chance to win a number of great raffle prizes – including a pair of return Qantas tickets to Australia, a suite room at the ANA Intercontinental Hotel, a Party for 30 people at the Tokyo America Club and much more.
Surplus money from the night will be donated to charity. Last year, the Australia Society Tokyo donated a total of ¥4,250,000 to organisations – such as the Red Cross – supporting those affected by a number of natural disasters in the world in 2011: notably the Earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan as well as floods and cyclones in Queensland.
