In this 6th installment of the festival, Kazuo Ohno looks back to the past, focusing on one of the pioneers of Beijing opera from the 30s, modern dance that emerged in the 40s, and the origins of butoh dance, “Kinjiki (forbidden color)” from 1959, approaching these works from modern viewpoints. Additionally, taking over from last year’s theme of “ba (site)”, Ohno and various other participants will transform BankART Studio’s huge space into a “theater”. Also being held is “Respect Pina Bausch”, a special event being held to commemorate the late artist who had a close relationship with Ohno.
