Legacy of Zen Temples: Shokoku-ji, Kinkaku-ji and Ginkaku-ji, Kyoto
This anniversary exhibition will showcase masterpieces from the Shokoku-ji school, including over 45 National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties. It will provide an opportunity to see into the beautiful world of Shokoku-ji and its branch temples, entrusting its collections and legacy to the future.
Shokoku-ji Temple, which has a history of over 640 years since its founding, has nurtured many artists throughout the ages and led to the creation of many masterpieces. The beauty of the Shokoku-ji school, which developed its model in the Middle Ages, has continued through the early modern, modern and contemporary periods. This exhibition is being held to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of Shokoku-ji Jotenkaku Museum.
