Dance to Traditional and Pop Songs
The Nakano Bon Odori Festival, also known as the “Nakabon,” is back for its 12th year with the theme of “songs and dances of Nakano” over the weekend from August 3 to August 4.
The Nakabon festival will have various live performances and DJ sets featuring traditional folk songs from across the country, while also highlighting local favorites such as “Nakano Ondo,” “Tokyo Ondo,” “Tanko Bushi,” “Dodarebachi” and “Kagoshima Ohara,” which will all be accompanied by live music from the Nakano Folk Song Federation.
Along with traditional music, Nakabon also includes more modern and pop songs. Last year, Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and Kurousa-P x Hatsune Miku’s “Senbonzakura” were covered on the taiko drums. Last year’s festival attracted over 60,000 guests.
This year’s special guests include DJ Koo, DJ Celly, Nakayama Kinni, DJ Yatsui Ichiro, The Frank Vox, The Lethal Weapons, Bakuage Sentai Boomboomger, Yamanaka Ippei & Mizuki, and Kinniku Shinshi Shudan Allout, which a total of 42 performances across the weekend.
The festival will be hosted at Nakano Central Park, so there will be plenty of room for everyone to dance. The park is located just a five-minute walk from Nakano Station.
