Between December 26 and January 31, Panasonic is combining traditional and modern Japan in a fun event aimed at tourists from abroad.
For the ninja-themed event, held in the popular sightseeing hotspot of Asakusa, the electronics company is employing its LinkRay technology, which delivers various mobile content by enabling smartphones to read light IDs sent from LED transmitters.
Tourists who visit the east side of Asakusa’s Denboin-dori Street will spot statues of five thieves representing characters from a famous kabuki play. LinkRay devices are hidden somewhere near the statues, and if you hold your smartphone over the devices with the app LinkRay launched, you can receive special Japanese-themed digital content.
The game is a fun new way to discover this famous tourist spot—and there are even ninjas on site to help with the app.
