The weather’s up and down right now, but here’s our countdown of the month’s hottest trending tracks to funk up your playlist.

Lana Del Rey featuring The Weeknd – “Lust for Life”

Del Rey’s new album title track features The Weeknd, whom she collaborates with a third time. ‘Lust for Life’ is an epic ballad with a melancholy chorus elevated by The Weeknd’s high pitched vocals. Lighter than her previous offerings, this is an exciting tease of the sultry singer’s next chapter.

Harry Styles – “Sign of the Times”

Move aside Zayn; “Sign of the Times” is the debut solo track from the former One Directioner and it’s already burning up across the globe. Styles’s world tour sold out in seconds (he reaches Tokyo in November) and his self-titled album will no doubt achieve similar record-breaking status. This track is a Bowie inspired rock ballad that shows Styles is more than just a teen heartthrob.

Miu Mau – “New Memory”

Miu Mau are a Japanese new wave pop punk trio and “New Memory” is taken from their latest EP Memory and Actor. Feisty female vocals layer over synth-bass, while electric guitar and crash cymbal interweave. The EP has a pretty awesome dub-step version of “New Memory” worth checking out.

HAIM – “Want You Back”

It’s been four years since the three festival-haired sisters released their critically acclaimed debut. This month they return with two new offerings including the brilliant regretful break up single “Want You Back.” It is produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, who worked on their debut and therefore retains a signature HAIM sound.

The Chainsmokers and Coldplay – “Something Just Like This”

EDM duo The Chainsmokers and indie rock band Coldplay team up on this atmospheric dance number that’s cemented itself on our vacation playlist. Chris Martin’s distinctive voice is fused with dreamy electronic beats and a flawless production.

Day6 – “Dance Dance”

Day6 are one of the K-Pop boy bands we’re not embarrassed to have on our playlist. “Dance Dance” is a sunny fun loving guitar track from their forthcoming comeback release since going down from a six to a five piece band.

All Time Low – “Life of the Party”

“Life of the Party” is the stand out track from All Time Low’s new disc. This up-tempo anthem details the come downs of a rave, though probably will have the opposite effect on us, musically. We’re expecting crowds of high jumpers when we see this live on May 24 at Tokyo Akasaka Blitz. Check out our interview with Alex from All Time Low here.

Kygo featuring Ellie Goulding – “First Time”

Both artists have dominated the EDM scene in the last two years and finally unite to bring us “First Time.” The track is fueled by nostalgia of care-free young love; Goulding sings “We were sipping on emotions, smoking and inhaling every moment. It was reckless and we owned it…”
