Something has been happening all over Tokyo this summer. People have been putting rosemary in their whisky.
What they thought of it, we’re not sure (a “woody aroma kind of suits the whisky and works surprisingly well” is one genuine thought from our office) but if you want to find out for yourself the best place to head is Omotesando 246 Common.
If you fancy a basic whisky Highball (whisky and soda – with perhaps a slice of lemon, the favourite of many who just cannot handle a beer in this weather) and if you like hanging out near big towers, you’re in luck. If you’re quick (ish…)
Suntory’s Highball Garden, which is just beneath Tokyo Tower, is open until September 2nd and opens daily from 11:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (last orders are at 9:00 p.m.)
Grab a simple one, go for cola instead of soda or choose ginger ale. Or, go for the Tokyo Tower Highball (¥550). What is that? Well, supposedly developed to give drinkers the image of a lit up Tokyo Tower without waiting for sunset – or craning their necks – it involves whisky, bitter orange and herbs… Refreshed?
Where: see map, below.
When: Until September 2
