The world’s first “Cosmic Girl Cafe” has opened in Harajuku. Featuring characters developed by the Barcelona-based artist Okokume, the establishment styles itself as a futuristic “art cafe” with an environmental twist.
The mission of Cosmic Girl (the cafe’s symbol) is to create a world where everyone lives in peace and respects the Earth. Following this theme, the cafe only uses organic ingredients in their desserts and tops it all off with coloring made from superfoods such as spirulina or beets, making their menu not only colorfully appetizing but also good for you. As such, many of their cakes and sweets also make great treats for children.
The Cosmic Girl Cafe also sells various merchandise based on characters created by Okokume.
