Akihabara has long been known as a place where you can see the latest technology, and now that even extends to its accommodations.
&AND HOSTEL is a new hostel in Akihabara where you can experience the future of hospitality by using high-end internet-connected devices. Another branch of the hostel is set to open February 20 in nearby Kanda.
One service available to try at the hostel is Home Watch, an IoT service which allows you to control the temperature and humidity of your room and notifies you if anything’s amiss while you’re out.
Other IoT experiences include check in and out, TV and air conditioning control, and voice control via by a smart speaker, which you can ask about information like shower availability and the location of convenience stores near the hostel.
