If you, like the vast majority of internet users, are secretly addicted to cat videos then get ready for the purrrrfect way to take that fixation to the next level.

Yesterday, the city of Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture, which is apparently famous for its felines, unveiled Cat Street View, an adorable twist on Google Street View, which allows users to digitally explore Hiroshima from the point of view of their favourite four legged friends.

Tech Radar ran an article about the new site, admitting that it “may seem utterly pointless” before insisting that “it’s a fun way to explore a city online.” Tech Crunch, meanwhile, declared that “The Internet Was Created for Cat Street view” before going on to describe how the new site focuses on Onomichi City’s shopping district and the nearby Neko museum, which focuses entirely on the maneki-neko, or “lucky cat” figurines that adorn many Japanese businesses, some of which greet customers with their automated beckoning paws. Digital Trends also notes that Hiroshima’s most famous cats are profiled on the site, along with the locations of where those beloved felines reside so that users can pay them a visit.

Hiroshima’s tourism division was quoted as saying that Cat Street View allows users to “enjoy and experience the hidden charms of the backstreets and the scenery of Hiroshima from the perspective of cats, which know them well… (it) is also full of information on Onomichi, a town of slopes famous for its cats.”
