Andy Warhol’s 200 Campbell’s Soup Cans (1962) is the largest single canvas of the Campbell’s Soup can paintings, and you can see it in all its glory here in Tokyo this autumn. The iconic painting is making its debut in Japan, along with a handful of others from the impressive collection of John and Kimiko Powers.
The John and Kimiko Powers Collection of Pop Art is considered one of the most extensive in private hands. The couple began collecting art in the sixties, while living in NYC. They were regular visitors of art galleries, and close friends of many of the artists they collected. Little did they know that their collection of prints would rapidly grow to be one of the finest in the world.
For the first time on Japanese soil, catch the Campbell’s print and some more from Warhol, along with pieces from Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg and Robert Rauschenberg.
