Tokyo Designed is a new blog from The Weekender, cool hunting and celebrating all things Designed, from graphics and products, to gadgets and apparel in the worlds biggest and coolest city: Tokyo!
Reebok celebrated the 20th anniversary of ‘The Pump’ in high style in the Mado Lounge, on the top of Tokyo’s tallest skyscraper; Roppongi Hills’ Mori building.
Breakdancers did their thing to ‘Pump up the Jam‘ and Daft Punk, ‘Harder Better Faster Stronger‘. The bar served themed drinks and a giant screen showed vintage Reebok adverts, some of them were hilarious.
A great feature to promote the brand was a limited gallery installation featuring plastic wrapped ‘Pumps‘ from cool sneaker stores around the world. The installation encouraged interaction with the drinking revelers, it was a good job it was only a temporary show as the display was taking some damage!
Tokyo is a great city for designer products, colliding the best of Western and Eastern culture. Japanese street wear is obviously one big part of that and the Reebok party went down a storm… Could this be Reeboks revival?
In the upcoming December 4 WEEKENDER, there will be a fashion spread all about sneakers; and one lucky lucky person will win a customized pair of Adidas, they can design themselves from the new Mi Adidas project.
